The CHDR Questionnaire App will take drug research trials to the next level. How? The app brings the clinical trials to the participants' home instead of the clinic. This will make drug research trials easier for both the participants and researchers alike: for the participants because they don't have to travel to the clinic building as often, and for the researchers because they will be relieved from a lot of communication effort. The CHDR Questionnaire App will be used to monitor the status of the trial participants automatically. This is done by sending them trial-specific questions at set times, which can be filled in via a user-friendly interface. After all questions have been filled in by the participant, the data is sent straight to the cloud, which can be accessed by the drug trial researchers monitoring the participants. All data is sent securely, and only intended for the researchers to see. The software is designed to be user-friendly, and accessible for the participants. The app will be available on both iOS and Android platforms. All in all, the CHDR Questionnaire App offers a new way for researchers to interact with trial participants, taking drug research trials to the next level.
We did our project for CHDR, which is the Centre for Human Drug Research. They test new drugs and medicines on participants of trials. We built an Android app and a website, so the participants can fill in questionnaires about how they are doing when they are back at home, and and administrator can set up these questionnaires. To discuss our progress on the project we had biweekly meetings with two representatives of the organisation. During these meetings we showed our progress and received feedback on this to improve our products. We also discussed what we were going to work on in the next sprint.
Our team consists of six students; four computer science students and two bioinformatics students. Before working on this project, we did not all know each other yet. However, during our time working in a team there was good communication and we could rely on each other to get the results we wanted. Every team member was involved in the project and contributed to the final product. We had divided our team in two groups. One focussed on building the website and the other group on creating the Android app. Because of this and the Scrum process that we used, we were able to create two products, a website and an app, that we are proud of.
