LawDisk provides a web browser application that enables its users to take notes of a meeting with the click of a single button. By using the microphone to capture what is being said and have it turned into text by their AI transcription users can effortlessly get a transcript of their meeting. Our project aimed to make a mobile application that can be downloaded from the users respective app store. The mobile version aims to improve on some quality of life, such as logging in through biometrics and ease of access. Through the mobile application we are able to take advantage of biometric identification services if available and the process of getting to the application is streamlined due to not requiring a browser anymore.
Our client was the team at LawDisk, which is a small start-up. We had the pleasure of interacting mainly with two of the co-founders: Sieger Suurbier and Wouter Kroeze. Through, initially, weekly then bi-weekly meetings we were able to show our progress on the application as well as gain valuable insights on how to progress. Since most of our team were new to the technologies that the client uses for development, the knowledge we gained from interacting with the LawDisk team was especially valuable. By repeating this process of working on a new feature or interface in between every meeting, we were able to create a pretty fleshed out mobile application mimicking the web application with some extra features. All in all it was a delight to interact with the team at LawDisk.
Our team consists of students from three different bachelor programmes: Computer Science (Chloe Eijsermans and Lars Brussee), Informatics and Economics (Renske van Gulijk and Xin Yi Lin) and Data Science & AI (Phoebe Dos Santos). Every member of the team was a developer, since everyone contributed to the coding of the app. This lead to some of us having extra roles, such as Xin Yi being appointed scrum master and Renske being appointed as our head of communications, meaning that she was the contact point for our client and took care of most of the communication between our team and the client. The biggest challenge of this project our team faced was learning the technologies requested by the client as none of use were familiar with TypeScript or React. Considering this big hurdle, we are pretty proud of our end product which is an Android and iOS application of the LawDisk web application.
